Henry Forster named new Managing Director of Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH

Sassnitz-Mukran, October 11, 2024 - Effective January 1, 2025, Henry Forster will assume the role of Managing Director at Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH. This decision was unanimously approved by the company's shareholders, the town of Sassnitz and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

A native of Sassnitz, Forster brings extensive experience in successfully developing and transforming the energy performance of companies and industrial sites. His track record includes Nehlsen AG in Bremen, GOA mbH in Baden-Württemberg and, most recently, Ihlenberger Abfallentsorgungsgesellschaft mbH.

Henry Forster will succeed long-time Managing Director Harm Sievers, who retired on September 30, 2024. In the interim period beginning October 1, 2024, Fridjof Ostenberg, the company's former authorized signatory and head of the legal department, has been serving as Acting Managing Director.


About the Mukran Port

The Mukran Port on Rügen offers everything that makes a modern multifunctional port on a total area of almost 430 hectares with ferry, rail, multipurpose and offshore terminals as well as extensive production and storage areas. The port has sea connections to almost all Baltic Sea ports. Mukran Port offers ideal conditions for the offshore wind industry: there are already several offshore wind farms within a maximum radius of 30 nautical miles, which will be expanded in the coming years.
