Sassnitz-Mukran, 5 November 2024 – On November 4th, 2024, our managing director Fridjof Ostenberg was a guest at the “Maritime Horizonte” event at the state representation of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Berlin. In direct exchange with Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, he discussed the role of the Mukran Port in current and future projects that are crucial for the energy transition.
In her opening speech, Ms. Schwesig underlined the economic and strategic importance of the maritime economy for Germany and also highlighted the important role of the northern German ports. With its location and infrastructure, Mukran Port actively contributes to the energy transition - by supporting the expansion of offshore wind power and the development of the hydrogen economy. With over 700 million euros invested in green energy projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, including 168 million from the state, the maritime industry is well positioned for the future.
Mukran Port remains a strong partner for sustainable energy and technological innovation in the Baltic Sea region. Together with the state, the federal government and the maritime industry, we are working to actively shape the future of energy and industrial supply.
