Offshore wind at first hand in Mukran Port

Sassnitz-Mukran, August 16-18, 2018 - As last year, the Mukran Port once again opened its port gates to visitors from 16 to 18 August to provide information on offshore wind energy. Around 100 guests from business and politics were invited to the Offshore Summit to kick off the three days of the event. Besides the "lessons-learned" from past wind farm projects, the possibilities of improving the so-called soft location factors were discussed with representatives of the local tourism and service industry, among others. On the two following days, the Mukran Port welcomed interested visitors and tourists who informed themselves at stands and promotions of about a dozen exhibitors about the construction, operation and networking of wind turbines at sea. The wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa opened its pre-assembly area, giving visitors a unique view of the components weighing up to 400 tons. This year again there was special interest in the port tours with the crew transfer ship and the bus tours to the service port of Iberdrola and E.on. Another highlight of the Fascination Offshore Wind 2018 was the demonstration of the helicopter of the air rescue from Güttin, which could be admired by those interested on the ground after the air show. Visitors were able to enjoy a unique view from a height of around 40 metres from the viewing platform of a mobile crane.By Saturday evening, around 1200 guests had visited the Fascination Offshore Wind and set a new visitor record for the Mukran Port series of events.
